Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property and move vehicles to higher ground. On Sunday, April 12,at approximately AM, the Fairfield Police Emergency Communications Center received a call from a resident reporting that two juveniles were seen at the Agudas Achim Cemetery, located at Reid Street, and may have been involved in a motor vehicle collision on the property.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a GMC V truck, which was stored on the property, was taken without perm The males were able to start the vehicle and drive it around the property causing extensive damage to the lawn and a number of headstones.
The truck became disabled and the males fled on foot toward Pemburn Dr. Although a crime, and the juveniles will be held responsible once located, this is believed to be a poor act of juvenile mischief and reckless behavior and not an antisemitic or bias crime. Anyone who may have information regarding this collision is asked to contact Sergeant Michael Paris at or mparis fairfieldct. We have identified several juveniles that were involved and through interviews we are confident in our above findings.
Further investigation must still be conducted prior to any arrests being made. In addition, we learned from neighbors of the cemetery that it is a local hangout for juveniles. The juveniles were able to easily gain access to a vehicle on the property and lost control of it while attempting to maneuver through the close quarters of the cemetery.
Although their behavior was in fact reckless, it does not appear they intentionally caused damage.O365 github
